I’ve got to side with Dr. Reines here, if they went to the trouble of sabotaging the Muffin with a computer virus I would imagine finding a safe spot during Remulan battles wouldn’t be that much harder.
maybe they were ready in an escape pod or something but weren’t going to leave until they were sure the virus had worked but since it didn’t they just didn’t leave…. oh wait- none of those characters are me.
The only thing working on the ship was the machine that was already working when the virus striked, so the escape pod was unnusable, and activating it before the virus would have triggered some security device(like a fire escape door). And the remulean didn’t want to capture the ship, they wanted to destroy it, so remaining hidden until the end of the fight isn’t a good idea.
