As a scientific fact, the black powder explosion inside the bullet’s brass casing is sealed from the outside environment, so Jayne’s claim that “Vera needs air around her to fire” is inaccurate.
It’s not impossible that a future weapon would have a weakness that modern ones don’t, but it seems a little unlikely, especially that particular weakness in a weapon in a spacefaring age.
Well, she only needed the one shot.
And at that range, missing the target is nigh impossible.
CHEKHOV’S GUN!!!
Hmm. This storyline is amusing and all, but I wish something would go wrong.
Like the zombie guy behind Bob starting to rampage and infect; and Pestilous/Princess shows up? (With her attempting a Xanatos Gambit.)
Well this reads like “The Squire of Gothos.” Shooting the mirror didn’t work on the show…
I think they’re done here!
“even Vera could… barely… breach the hull!”
As a scientific fact, the black powder explosion inside the bullet’s brass casing is sealed from the outside environment, so Jayne’s claim that “Vera needs air around her to fire” is inaccurate.
That implies the weapon is shooting in a modern conventional manner and not using some… futuristic… firing method that requires air.
I’m just sayin’.
It’s not impossible that a future weapon would have a weakness that modern ones don’t, but it seems a little unlikely, especially that particular weakness in a weapon in a spacefaring age.
We should have guessed, really. Chekov’s gun was a literal Chekov’s Gun. Does this mean we are in act 3?
Have Fun!
