She seems to neglect the fact that she, compared to the humans, is also an alien.

I hate it when you go to watch a good alien or monster movie and it turns out to be about the people and you barely see anything of the creatures. It’s all philosophical and stuff. Those kind of movies have their place, but there should be a warning on movies about things like that. When I sit down to watch a bunch of spunky humans fight to the death (mostly theirs) with an alien monster and then I’m subjected to “Humanity was the real monster all along!” I get kinda cranky.
One of my noncomic works is up over at Brick Town Talk, today.

Thus is the reason why both Cloverfield and Super 8 were huge wastes of time, with absolutely no point or purpose.
Aww, I liked ‘Cloverfield’ and have been looking forward to seeing ‘Super 8′.
As a gauge I recently saw ‘Chronicle’ and didn’t like it, which is apparently unusual. I really liked ‘Kick Ass’, though, and am still waiting to see ‘Super’.
I suppose you’d need to include ‘Planet of the Apes’ into that category of “monster movies that aren’t aboot the monster”.
and why cowboys vs alien or battleship were both awesome
lol yeah with both ensign red and D.B. guy as ally id be positive about my situation as well.
That’s what bugged me about Ghosts of Mars; whenever alien monsters invade our planet, we’re hell-bent on kicking them off, but all of a sudden we’re the invaders and instead of us having our butts handed to us or humans saying, “whoops, sorry, we’ll be going now”, the characters are all like, “We ain’t leavin’!” and proceed to slaughter (or attempt to slaughter) the natives. At least when that happened in Avatar, the humans DID get their butts kicked and thrown off the planet for their hubris.
I’d like to think that Nerok and Ryan have different definitions of “people” and “alien”, and that she is thinking she hopes there will be lots of humans (aliens for her) to kill.
Probably it’s a “we are all humanoids”-thing (maybe twi’lekoids for her) and the real aliens are rather Gary-like…
Nice Victorian house, will we see it in the strip ever?
@jezzer: I think Skyline is in the middle, a lot of human “quality-time” but also a lot of aliens, nicely done aliens too
“Alien” is something “other”, so if we assume her species (togrutas? I forget) are a known part of the galactic community, then I’d say she really *isn’t* an alien.
As far as the comments go, I sort of disagree – I can understand why people coming into one of these Cloverfield-type movies who THINK it’s a straight monster movie might be annoyed, but it seems like there’s people who can’t stand their existence whether they’re advertised fairly or not. And that doesn’t seem fair, since I think there is a place for “Godzilla from the common person’s POV” stories.
