Skip enjoys the finer things in life.

I keep seeing these previews for Snow White and the Huntsman, and it all looks kinda cool, but I’m having trouble with suspension of disbelief.  Obviously I have no problem with fantasy and science fiction and I’m perfectly able to wrap my brain around dwarves and big giant monster things and magic and so on.  Where I’m having issues is that this movie wants me to accept that Charlize Theron is jealous of Kristen Stewart’s beauty.  I’m just having a hard time with that.

“Where I’m having issues is that this movie wants me to accept that Charlize Theron is jealous of Kristen Stewart’s beauty. ”

To quote (or paraphrase) Bugs Bunny: that’s showbiz, doc.

Personally, I find the whole idea of ‘actioning up’ fairy tales to be more ridiculous then any of the actual content could ever be.

Charlize Theron: Every inch an example of feminine beauty.
Kristen Stewart: Man-faced with stoner eyes. And don’t get me started on her “acting”…
It’s painful to me that Kristen shares a last name with the best Starfleet captain ever. Of all time.

Even if he wasn’t the best Starfleet captain ever, it is still such a noble name that for Kristen to claim it brings great shame upon our race.

The whole point of Snow White was that the Queen was obsessive with Snow White – not that she was right to obsess.
I see a lot of versions where the queen is the prettier one (including Once Upon A Time), but that doesn’t stop her being vicious about it.
Of course – beuty is in the eye of the beholder

Well, I’m not surprised. You may say that the Magic Mirror on the wall is defective when it claims Kristen Stewart’s more “fairest”, but one woman jealous of the other just because someone SAID the second is “better” is pretty beliavable.

Seriously, the idea of one objective and exact scale of beauty is already crazy. Different people have different taste.

  5. Epicpancake says:

I think what the movie is trying to get at is that Charlize Theron’s character is jealous of Kristen Stewart’s “inner beauty” as well as her “outer beauty”.

Both of which Kristen Stewart has naught of in real life, and which Charlize Theron possesses generous amounts of.

  6. Traci says:

Wow, i think i just wound up in the shallow end. Why are we analyzing beauty if a fairy tale?

  7. Kaian says:

I thought from the previews I saw that the ‘Queen’ was using the blood of various women to maintain her beauty and she needed Snow White’s heart to make the effect permanent?

  8. Packerchu says:

So if Skip dresses up as Snow White, who’ll be the huntsman?
