Lieutenant Anton Chekhov

Some of you guessed this as a possibility and honestly it kinda happened to me the same way.  I initially intended for the Dragon Sword to be the Sword of Dagon when I wrote it, but then I suddenly came up with using this.  If this had been the intention the entire time (like the whole Una thing was) it might have been one of the greatest Chekhov’s guns of all time, at the very least one of the longest to go off.

Early on I was certain that the Captain’s sword WAS the Sword of Dagon, but then the ninja’s said they knew about the sword and said they would go get it, so I had figured I was wrong.

Obviously our good Doctor hoodwinked me.

*BOOOOOMMMM!* My mind just went off! 😀

  3. Colin says:

Looking at the picture of Anton Chekhov’s LEGO face, something struck me. Could you cast Lani Tupu from Farscape for the part? Just seems like a good match…

  4. Docknock says:

So why didn’t our “Q” substitute say something about this in the first place?

  5. Mr. Speck says:

Even if he *is* operating in his actual capacity as ship’s historian here, the fact it’s Lt. Chekhov of all people delivering this revelation is still hilarious.

  6. LordVargonius says:

Lt. Chekov: The Most Important Character whom you Forget Exists.

  7. Riftx says:

All the running round for this legendary sword, and turns out its been stuck on the captains wall for years, love it

    • Oldfan says:

Agreed; accidental or not, this so fits into the overall silliness of this comic. Awesome! Can’t wait to see how the sword starts talking about this…

They’re going to turn out to have already assembled every item that could possibly be of use against the King in Yellow, aren’t they? The One Ring? It’s on Red’s ring finger. Ra as the Great Cat? Oh, didn’t Conway mention he moonlights? (Heh, Chekov’s Cat. Is that even a thing?) The Eye of Harmony? Oh, is THAT what that hole in Bob’s pocket is?

Seriously, though, this works very well. They actually did quest for these items, and rightfully earn them, and we the readers have just been waiting to discover their significance. It would seem that it’s going to be truly epic, too!

  9. Its just a shame that it wasn’t Lt. Chekhov’s talking sword
