I would have found a gag, or one of those mask things from Silence of the Lambs, not sure if the latter would be effective for shutting him up though, just for visual effect.

Need to keep homocidal maniac, with a knack for escaping, prisoner, but don’t have adequate facilities avaible? Break his arms and legs.

  2. Paladin says:

If someone had a lightsaber handy they could CUT OFF his arms and legs. Just breaking them will not necessarily keep him in one place. Okay, it will make it harder for him to move around, but not impossible.

And if anyone is questioning my choice, they are on a starship. They can re-attach his arms and legs later….maybe.

  3. Docknock says:

No need to be barbaric. You can surgically cut a few key tendons that can be repaired later and that would be enough to keep him in one place.

    • Paladin says:

Unfortunately being barbaric is sometimes the only way the “bad guys” will take you seriously.

And it’s generally more fun too.

I forget if they have Star Trek transporters, but if so, they could suspend him in the buffer. Try escaping THAT without help!

    • Darg says:

That’s assuming a whole lot, like the Rath won’t just rematerialize him, the transporters are still functional and accessible, they have time to set that up, since the transporter system isn’t normally designed to do something like that, etc.

      • ladyblanc says:

The Rath would have to know he was there, and they don’t exactly strike me as thinking types. Also, suspending someone in the transporter doesn’t take any special effort. All you have to do is dematerialize them and not rematerialize them again. The only drawback is that the stored pattern will degrade after a while. Extended storage would take special prep. But they would be getting him out fairly quickly. It could work.

I do concede that the transporters might not be functional and/or accessible, however.
