For whatever my thoughts are worth, in the end I’m not sure if this experiment was that successful. Not because of the poetry itself, though, but because previously 46 had never been a particularly “deep” character and it felt a little unnatural coming from him.

    • BrickVoid says:

Yeah, throughout this series of episodes all I could see was this adding up to binary 1’s or 0’s for 46, and I’m sure if he ran his math processor over it again, he’d get the same result I did! 😀

  2. TeaAddict1 says:

I didn’t mind the new depth to 46. I can see him hiding his layers under profanity and surliness. I’m not really one for poetry, but this was an interesting experiment. Will we see this new depth play out in his character in future comics?

  3. rmsgrey says:

My issue with this one is the format – two lines per day is ill-suited for poetry (except possibly rhyming couplets)

    • BlackDove says:

I feel the same. I think the effect of the poetry was unfortunately nulled by coming out in instalments. I may have to go back to the beginning and read the chapter as a whole to actually get it

I didn’t exactly hate this, but I didn’t love it. The above posters are right; it didn’t read like poetry in daily installments. And, really, it took two weeks to express what could have been said in one strip. Overall, I found it… dull. Sorry, Doc. But I do appreciate that you’re shaking things up and trying new stuff! 🙂
