Lieutenant Deborah Pascal
Quote

Deborah Pascal replaced Martin Jasper as XO of the Alliance Star Ship Muffin after it became illegal to be a jedi. Deborah is stiff and inflexible in her strict interpretations of regulations. She feels that everyone around her is constantly violating important regulations, though she is interested in bending at least one to her own favor as she maintains the relationships between certain officers are against regulations, she herself is interested in the Captain. She feels the crew does not respect her very much, which is true, but she does little to realize that she could gain their respect if she treated them with respect. The Captain has started to grow very tired of her attitude and begun giving her the cold shoulder.

Biography

Early Childhood

Deborah Christina Pascal grew up on Carbile, a neutral mining and trade world outside Alliance space. Never knowing her father she was raised by her mother who adopted a strict attitude with Deborah as Carbile was a dangerous place to grow up and she was interested in protecting her child. This severe attitude resulted into Deborah's strict adherence to regulations and rules. Deborah's entire life her mother saved money so that Deborah would have some kind of life off of the mining world and managed to pull together enough money before her untimely death that Deborah could escape and join the Alliance.

Secondary Education

Deborah joined the Alliance Navy as soon as she was old enough but advanced slowly as her adherence to the rules not only hindered her progress but brought a great deal of annoyance to her superiors and equals. She was transferred often to avoid anyone having to deal with her too long.

2350 and Beyond

Arrival
For the first time Deborah's strict adherence to the rules garnered her a favorable post when she was assigned as Executive Officer to the Muffin to replace Lieutenant Martin Jasper who had been charged with being a Jedi. She was assigned to this post along with Mister Combs, a telepath she was to use to her own discretion to determine loyalty.
Upon her arrival she immediately initiated the arrest of Martin Jasper which prompted his escape and departure from the crew, ultimately leading to him joining the Sith. She then had Mister Combs interrogate other members of the crew, which resulted in next to no information and a somewhat stricken Mister Combs after he peered into Johnny Danger's mind.
When Belinda returned to the ship Deborah attempted to have her arrested and detained as well, however Belinda proved too strong to be dealt with by the likes of Mister Combs and Captain Smith supported her in her desire to remain free.

Secrets Revealed Regardless of Deborah's objections Captain Smith continued to run his ship the way he pleased and continued on missions that Deborah did not approve of. Feeling slighted by the inability to affect real change Deborah set out to enforce minor infractions, such as crew members wearing proper uniforms, she encountered some resistance in this, especially from Shauna, who immediately suspected Pascal as the spy when 46 was damaged. Between this and Deborah's overt passes at Captain Smith and her insistence that he and Shauna could not date because of their positions on the ship (not accepting the hypocrisy of her wanting to dating him), the two fought. The physical confrontation was significant and Deborah held her own against Shauna, much to Shauna's surprise. After the fight it was revealed that Deborah was partially nythrian which had explained her ability to go toe to toe with Shauna, and also her closed off nature. Captain Smith assured her that they would not reveal her secret and that she was in the perfect place to be a misfit and an outcast.

Becoming a true part of the crew
Johnny was able to con Deborah into joining him on the holodeck for an adventure program in the hopes that it would lead to them sleeping together. During the course of the simulation Johnny, Deborah, and Red retrieved an artifact and had it stolen from them by the villain, who also kidnapped Deborah. Johnny and Red came to her rescue, however, and while Johnny attempted to gain some favors out of that it resulted in his usual lack of success.
Deborah was almost surprised when the Captain left her in charge of the ship when he and several other members of the crew went down to Repak to deal with a Sith ship they had shot down. She was even more surprised when the Captain left her in charge when a large portion of the senior staff went time traveling. Though they said they would return immediately it took them months, during which time she made excuses to the Alliance brass the Bob was in the bathroom with gastrointestinal distress.

Role confusion
When Marty returned to the ship, after the time travel debacle, revealing he had always been a double agent Deborah didn't know where her place in the crew was anymore. Captain Smith remedied this quickly by making her Second officer and making TAG primarily chief science officer, to which he didn't object since he had not realized he was second officer in the first place. She was also cleared of suspicions of being a Sith spy when the real spy was revealed upon Marty's return.

Using her heritage When Dr. Samuel Kramer returned to the ship to help fight the Remulan threat Deborah had her misgivings. When he mangaged to gas the entire bridge crew and take over he had no idea that one member was part nythrian and when his guard was down Deborah beat him into submission.

Transfer
Role confusion on board the Muffin didn't last long when Captain Venko Balissa requested Deborah become his first officer on Space Station Alpha 9 near the Nythrian border. She gladly accepted and said her farewells to a crew that had ultimately come to accept her their own way. Captain Smith wished her luck and assured her they would cross paths again someday.
