Plot Synopsis

Mystery and suspense abound and the race is on to solve a murder most foul!

Plot Summary

It was a dark and stormy night when Detective Waddington and Inspector Pratt came to the house on the hill. Their knocking was heard throughout the house and they were quickly ushered in by the butler for there had been a murder.
In truth several of the crew had become trapped, unawares, on the holodeck and Captain Smith and Marty were forced to go in, in character, to solve the mystery, end the program, and free their friends from an eternity of playing out the same game over and over for all time. They were introduced to their host and the rest of the guests present. The situation was explained and Bob and Marty go to inspect the body.
The body held too many clues to easily solve the case and the two detectives headed into the house proper to further investigate. Bob went about interrogating the guests and getting almost nothing in the way of information from them while Marty kept up his search around the house, discovering a missing candlestick and what might have been blood or raspberry jam. Marty lead them to the kitchen where he didn't find raspberry jam, but did find a place where a knife should have been, indicating another missing weapon. Marty also found a secret passage that lead them from the kitchen to the library where they found a revolver.
Their search continued through the wine cellar, the conservatory, and the lounge where Marty accuses Dr. Black of being the killer, but is informed that it isn't one of the options, as he is just an NPC. Through Marty's struggles he was able to put together an actual accusation and when he announced that the killer was Mr. Scarlett in the Billiard Room with the Lead Pipe, the program ceased and everyone was back to normal.

Notes

  • This storyline precipitated the building of the library and by extension the beginning of the mansion project which has shown up in pieces in later installments of the comic.
