Plot Synopsis

Red, Alice, and 46 are picked up by the cryptlons and meet Osh Kosh B'gosh who takes them to Deep Babylon 8.

Plot Summary

As Red, Alice and 46 speculate about who is going to pick them up a giant ship? comes into view of the escape pod?. Whether the pod was disintigrated around them or they were simply transported out of the pod remains a mystery but they soon find themselves on a cryptlon ship. They are soon greeted by a cryptlon who Red proceeds to minorly insult by assuming he is something burgers can be ordered through. 46 explains the concept of a cryptlon encounter suit to the others while they speculate about their own environment being pumped into the room so that they can breathe. The cryptlon reveals that Red is The One, but will not explain The One what as it either doesn't want to, or can't, a point that is further driven home by the mirth the cryptlon takes in producing cryptic and confusing answers to any question presented.
The cryptlon finally introduces itself as Osh Kosh B'gosh, and they proceed to call him Osh. They learn from Osh that they are en route to Deep Babylon 7. After reading up on the station 46 asks if there is karaoke, much to the confusion of the others. News quickly reaches them that Deep Babylon 7 has been destroyed mysteriously, however Deep Babylon 8 is up and running so they will be heading there in stead. They muse on the strange fate of all of the other Deep Babylon stations.
General Graves contacts Captain Smith and also orders them to Deep Babylon 8 and while Johnny plans to meet them there, he just has to visit his mother first.

  • Cryptlons are an obvious analog to Babylon 5's? Vorlons.
  • The Deep Babylon stations refer to how similar Deep Space Nine and Babylon 5 were and the arguments that arose from that.
