Is the site open source? Maybe under a versioning system like git?
I do not promise anything (I am not a sites expert), but I would like to see if I can help.

I have no idea, the whole site is various programs, wordpress, phpbb3, gallery, and pmwiki

Feature request: high resolution strip pictures!
While the normal size is fine for most comics; in the ones plenty of action like of ones of the last days or the ones of 7.4 (Seperation Anxiety) it is hard to appreciate the quality of your work and seldom even understand what happened.

I'll second that. It's very Lucas-like in the level of Chaos, but I worry I'm missing some vital elements in the general mayhem.

It also needs an mp3 sountrack. ;)

that may be possible in the future but is a bit more complicated now. Seeing as I'd have to go in an save every past comic as highres and upload those and have it link separately. Once season 8 starts the images will be of higher quality, and I could go back in and save better files of the older ones, but it would take quite some time. I will keep it under consideration though.

So you still have every comic in a higher resolution somewhere? Why it would take time then?

I imagine there is a single template page for every comic page, so
- you mass resize the pictures (imagemagick with a small sh program might help),
- change the template,
- upload the larger images...

Actually, no, what I have is every comic as a photoshop file and i can save it as a better quality jpeg. Not really sure if I could do a higher resolution from what I have. I can look into doing it in the future (after season 8) though. The files already take up a great deal of room and i'm going to have to upgrade my system in the near future. (Probably just buy a terabyte external hard drive for my comic and family pictures).

I wouldn't worry about the old strips then - it's not like your images are super-compressed and artifacting. Just think about offering a larger-sized version next time a big battle appears in the strip. - You could even make the link to the larger shots a "forum exclusive" to drum up more interest here...

Excellent thought, I do have the original pictures for all of season 7 and season 8, though they don't have the special effects, I add those to the small versions, but I might be able to drum up something, the forum exclusive idea's pretty good, I might make an exclusive section that you need to be a forum member to see.

As admin the decision is of course yours, but I disagree about making a member only section.
If someone is not interested about speaking in the forum it would be just join, see the pictures and you will have plenty of 0 posts users.

And as cjdoyle said it is not about the jpegs artifacts it is about the picture resolution.
The strips plenty of actions are hard to follow, a larger version would be helpful. But an higher quality jpeg or even a lossless png would not help.

About the disk space: what about gmail storing services and stuff like that? It should be a good solution for files that freely available anyway (of course it is not good for you family files).

I thought of that, i need to see if there's some way to set it to like 5 posts or something. Or just start having forum exclusives and maybe people will notice, i dunno.

all right, well I'll just go ahead with what I was planning as season 8 is already saved as higher quality jpegs and sometimes with big action scenes I'll post the original pictures on the forums (I will get to this with old ones when I get the chance). I have plans for season 9 to change the style and format so I may end up doing high res versions of those.

i'm already planning on eventually buying a terabyte external harddrive, for $150 it's far better than upgrading a machine that still works fairly well, besides, I just bought a house, it's not new computer time, and I want to store everything on my own machine not somewhere online, though possibly both might not be bad, but if so I do have server space where I'm hosting the site, so yeah.
