Plot Summary

Having infiltrated the fighting ring of Mr. Farrel Goddard, Skip discovered that it was Mr. Goddard who had had his parents killed. Prepared to take his revenge on Goddard Skip was placed in the arena to fight again, but this time he was pitted against his mentor, Belinda Reines who had been forced into a neural clamp and was viciously attacking Skip, who was doing all he could to keep himself and her alive. During the fight Skip attempted to appeal to the Belinda inside, hoping she could fight the neural clamp, and much to the disappointment of Mr. Goddard, and Corman Voor the man who had brought Belinda to the arena, it seemed to work and Belinda hesitated.
Regardless, Belinda disarmed Skip and pinned him down, only to reveal the whole thing was an act and then she hit him over the head to knock him out. She then refused to kill Skip and Mr. Goddard had his aide Thamik bring Skip's body brought up to his office. When Mr. Goddard instructed Thamik and Corman Voor to leave Skip got up, took two knives down from the wall of Mr. Goddard's office and instructed them that they should indeed leave them. When Mr. Goddard attempted to use Thamik to take Skip down, Corman Voor disagreed and revealed himself to be Ha'at Bell in disguise and held Thamik at the edge of one of her swords. She escourted Thamik out and informed Skip and Mr. Goddard that Alliance Special Security would be arriving soon to do something about the arena.
Skip revealed to Mr. Goddard that he had discovered the Goddard was responsible for the death of his parents and that since he could do nothing to get them back, he would have to kill Goddard in revenge. Goddard realized that Skip's parents had been a couple of miners who had discovered a vein of Afloraltite and were going to go to the Alliance over it, so Goddard had them eliminated.
In the end when Agents Bilks and Teague found Mr. Goddard they discovered Skip had not killed him, only scared him so much he had soiled himself and left him in his own filth. On their way out, Belinda asked Skip why he didn't kill Goddard and Skip admitted that killing someone would not have made him feel better and Belinda was happy that she had taught Skip to fight, but not to become a killer.
