User standing in my doorway: My monitor is broken
Me: I know that setup — the cables hang straight down, sometimes they come loose. Did you check them to make sure they’re still in snugly?
User after long pause, staring at me: I HAVE a Graduate Degree (you could hear the capitals)
Me: So, you didn’t check the cables?
User: I checked the cables.
Me: Fine.
walk down hall.. cables are loose… adjust cables, monitor works.
Me: [just looks at user]
Graduate degrees my ass.
While that kind of thing certainly is the most common, it totally sucks being on the other side, too.
