Colonel Shauna Finelli, Major Jovica “Johnny” Danger, The Doombee

Another ship I’ve been meaning to build for some time, though this one changed drastically in design every time I thought about it.  It certainly does have a lot more behind the cockpit than in front, and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but it will.

When I was in the sixth grade I was in a play that was a horrible combination of a Star Trek parody and something about basketball I never really understood. I can’t remember if I lobbied to get the part that I did or if it was just assigned to me but I was “Spock”.  I already loved Star Trek at that point and put everything I had into playing the Spock parody.  It was a silly play acted by sixth graders and I’m sure my portrayal was awful, but it gave me an odd connection to Spock that I always looked back on with fondness.  For those of you who don’t know, Leonard Nimoy passed away this week. If you’re finding out here you must have been at some secluded camp or something, I don’t know. Mr. Nimoy was a brilliant actor and seems to have been an insightful and wonderful man. He will be missed by the scifi community. To me he was the inspiration for TAG, but he has been the inspiration for so many and I’m sure will be for years to come. Live Long and Prosper.

Mister Nimoy shall forever be missed.

If it transforms into a giant robot, I’m gonna be so happy.

  2. SaylorA says:

Does that gun fire a Backward Utilized Tracking Torpedo? 🙂

    • Ron says:

I think it is an Advanced Ship-Seeking gun.

      • SaylorA says:

I was referencing a very old computer game called Star Control. One of the races in the game called the Spathi had it on their Eluder ship design.

And it made a fart like sound when it fired.

Actually, having everything “behind” the cockpit makes the *MOST* sense in a realistic space ship… xD

(Even the weapons aimed the same direction as the drives is right, as the two are often interchangeable!)

    • xKiv says:

And the ship itself doubles as a weapon aimed in the direction of its travel.

      • Col. Tatticky says:

Which is *ALSO* the “torch” end of the ship for half the delta-v of any journey. 😉

  4. Docknock says:

Until I saw the extra fins, I thought the profile at first looked like a sword.

    Live long and Prosper, Doctor.

I hope Mr. Nimoy gets a memorial filk as nice as DeForrest Kelley’s.

Star Trek in general and Spock in particular had a profound effect on my imagination and opening up a wider world to me as I was growing up. He will be deeply missed. \\//.

  8. Stephen says:

Well, it is definitely a Freakin Awesome Rear facing Turrent…either that or a Supersized Homing Interplanetary Torpedo.
