I thought the reason armor was invented was so that it would protect you from blades and blunt weapons. Whoever designed that storm trooper armor needs to be fired. Preferably out of a canon.
Even a good weapon is useless if it’s wielder is an idiot. 😀 Remember, these people are professional fighters and they’ve been doing this sort of thing for a while now! 😀
Armor is the only real weapon that stormtroopers have. Their blasters are just for show, after all, since they can’t hit the broadside of a barn with them.
One should not rely on armor to save your life. Armor was invented to protect a soldier should he fail to avoid an attack. However, as armor has improved, so too have the weapons that are meant to bypass it. No armor will make a person invincible, and storm trooper armor has canonical weakness to slashing and thrusting weapons at the exposed joint areas. It is very good at dispersing the energy of a blaster bolt, and will probably save your life if you were shot by one if you can get medical treatment in a reasonable amount of time.
Well, judging by his position at the start of the fight and now, he is backing away from the guy with the pointy weapon who obviously knows how to use it. Now, the real question is: “Is there a door to the room in the corner he is backing into?”

I think the point was while weapons have improved in this case they are specifically using older weapons.
