Comic for June 4th, 2018

June 4th, 2018

So I’ve come to a decision you guys probably won’t like, but it’s not really about you, it’s not even really about me, it’s about my family.  Let’s start with the news.  I’m going on hiatus at the end of this season, starting August 25th I’m taking a break from updating.  I could have gone to fewer updates, but it still leaves me trying to meet deadlines and rushing to get there and that hasn’t been producing great comics up till this point so I’m just going to take a year off.  Last time I took a hiatus I made sure it had a finite time limit and that’s what I’ll be doing again, this time it will be August 25th 2019 that I return with regular updates.  At that point I may just start there and go forward or I might have done enough that I post the entire year I’ve missed all at once and you get a year of reading all at once.  We’ll see.  My plans for next season are kinda different from the norm anyway, so uploading it all at once might work better, it just depends on how much I’ve managed to get done by the time 8-25-2019 rolls around.  I’m making this decision because I’ve got a lot on my plate right now with 3 kids under 4 and a rather difficult and time consuming job.  I want to keep making this comic at least for a little while longer, but I have to make other things a priority and I figured the season’s end would be the best place to leave it.  I mean I’m going to leave some cliffhangers to torment all of you, of course, but at least it’s a good stopping point for now.  I will be back and you’ve got a couple more months of regular updates before we take the hiatus, so enjoy.

Oh man, but I fully understand family comes first.

  2. Mr. Speck says:

No one’s ever thrilled to hear about a hiatus, but that sounds perfectly understandable.

  3. Docknock says:

Do what you need to. I am sure your audience will not wander far as you really tell some of the best stories.

  4. BrickVoid says:

You do you, Dr. Legostar, if it means an even more fantastic comic will come back at the end of the hiatus, I’m all for it. If you manage to post updates or anything news-worthy in the meantime though, please do, it’s always a good thing to let people know you’re out there. 😉

Take care of that which is your highest priority right now and best wishes to you and your family!

    🙂

Thanks for all those wonderful years! I hope you’ll be back as good as ever…

But take your time. Put your family first – we’ll miss the comics, but we’ll manage, probably. I’ll just start over from the beginning, sixteen years worth of comics should keep me entertained for a while…

All the best to you and your family!

  6. PsihoKekec says:

    Family comes first, cliffhangers second.

  7. Gyffes says:

Your archive is immense.. should hold me for a few rereads over the course of the next year.
Family first, good Doctor. We’ll pine, and mourn, but will do so with good grace. Thanks for your gift(s) to us all these years.

  8. Will DENHAM says:

Good luck, hope it goes well. I’ll still end up checking daily, out of habit!

  9. DaveBro says:

Family first, last, and always. I’m surprised the comic has survived 3 kids so far. Find your balance, just don’t try balancing The Force–it’ll end in tears. 😉

  10. Oldfan says:

It is rather remarkable that you’ve continued with constant updates full speed ahead for so long. I wish you all the best as you juggle your family and commitments, and look forward to the return of LG in all its glory, sarcasm, genre-savviness, and general nonsense. See you then…and don’t let the kids tear down your sets during the break!

  11. Thorfinntk says:

Not only is the hiatus totally understandable, it would be so to if you were to eventually return on a reduced schedule (two – three updates a week), at least till the kids reach school age. There are less accomplished and polished webcomics than yours that I consider to keep me well-entertained on such schedules (and their artists do, to my knowledge, NOT have three toddlers to keep up with).

  12. Artemis says:

Yes, your real family first. We, your second family, will wait.

Take care, come back safe and saner.

  13. wolf72 says:

To Infinity and Beyond, and then back again!

You go with your diaper duty, boooy! … I may prefer Legostar over poopy diapers, but I know what comes first!

I’ll be checking here anyway. … Almost as sad as the end of Commander Kitty then Casey and Andy.

  14. RAMPAGE says:

    🙁

  15. Taco says:

As everyone else has stated, take care of yourself, your family, and what ever else you need to. We all love your stories and while wait patiently.

Also thank you very much for telling us not only about your planned hiatus but way in advance. I have had web comics I read regularly stop suddenly for prolonged periods without an explanation. While I was saddened by the lack of updates I was more concerned that something had happened to the artist.

  16. LibraryTrekker says:

I have been a long time reader of your webcomic and have enjoyed for years. I agree with everyone else here that your family and other commitments come first. Also I agree with Taco and thank you for the advance notice of your hiatus. Thanks for the great comic and ‘Live Long and Prosper’. 🙂

  17. EvilKiru says:

My RSS feed awaits your return!

  18. Scaith says:

Be well, have fun. I’ll look forward to a resumption. 🙂
