The Bridge, the Battle Bridge

I’ve wanted to build a new bridge for a while, but I thought destroying the ship again was just a bit much.  That’s not to say I won’t do that again at some point, but at the moment it just doesn’t seem right.  When I thought about the ship separation concept it came to me that it might be fairly amusing that since they’ve gotten this ship they’ve been on the wrong bridge.

Looks like NASA is sending some minifigures into space.  My crew is jealous.  Except for Robin, he’s a little scared of the idea.

I think I know how that could happen. When you tell the turbolift “Bridge” it finds two results “battle bridge” and “main bridge” and since B comes before M it auto-picks battle bridge.

I can easily see a glitch like that happening, you don’t even need to presume the standard crappy TV computer programming to handwave it; for things like holodecks, they have multiple ones on the ship, and it would be a desirable feature that you don’t always have to specify a particular one, if you just say “holodeck” then it takes you to the closest one. It’s easy to imagine that a developer might accidentally set that feature for the bridges too. And since the main bridge is right up on the top of the ship while the battle bridge is safely contained in the heart of it, it makes sense that most places on the ship would be closer to it.

Also, on my current read-through, I noticed that they had no guide when they first went on board. So no-one who knew enough to correct the mistake.

Either that or it’s some kind of hazing ritual for crews new to a ship. Which, come to think of it, would explain why no other Alliance member asked why they were on the Battle Bridge whenever they were on videocall.
