Comic for August 25th, 2022
08/25/2022
August 25th, 2022

So this is it guys, after twenty years, that’s it.  There’ll be a placeholder comic up tomorrow so that new readers don’t stumble upon the end before the beginning but that’s it.  For now.  I have some ambition to fill in some of the hiatus gaps with some extra stories.  Think lost episodes of Doctor Who or Babylon 5: Thirdspace.  But I’ll post something on the main page when that happens.  Otherwise thanks for 20 years guys.  See you for my next project.

“Famous Last Words” By Billy Joel

Sitting here in Avalon,
looking at the pouring rain
Summertime has come and gone
and everybody’s home again
Closing down for the season,
I found the last of the souvenirs
I can still taste the wedding cake
and it’s sweet after all these years

These are the last words I have to say
That’s why this took so long to write
There will be other words some other day
But that’s the story of my life

There’s comfort in my coffee cup
and apples in the early fall
They’re pulling all the moorings up
and gathering at the Legion Hall
They swept away all the streamers after the Labor Day parade
Nothing left for a dreamer now,
only one final serenade

And these are the last words I have to say
Before another age goes by
With all those other songs I’ll have to play
But that’s the story of my life

And it’s so clear standing here where I am
Ain’t that what justice is for?
Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn anymore

Stack the chairs on the table tops
Hang the sheets on the chandeliers
It slows down but it never stops
Ain’t it sweet after all these years

And these are the last words I have to say
It’s always hard to say goodbye
But now it’s time to put this book away
Ain’t that the story of my life

    Congrats on 20 years!

Legostar Galactica has been one of my favorite webcomics for about a decade now, so it’s sad to see it end, but this is a good ending. I wish you luck in your future endeavors Dr. Legostar!

    • SaylorA says:

It has to be at least 15 years for me,quite possibly as long as 17. I honestly do not remember when I found this comic. It has been my nightly read just before going to bed.

Having won the Clue holodeck contest was a real thrill and watching what the good Doctor did with my character was fun, limited as it was. I got the impression that the fan created character was originally intended to be temporary, but I think Dr. LG liked my creation and decided to keep him around. He actually was referenced a couple of times and showed up in the background in a number of scenes. I thought that was very cool.

To Dr. Legostar: I wish you and your family well. 🙂

      • I meant to email you back forever ago, but I’m still considering your request to send you that minifigure, but since I may still do some lost episodes or “movies” I may still have need of him, but know that I didn’t forget you.

  3. Gwarin says:

For me Legostar Galactica has been nearly 20 years of (nearly) daily entertainment. Thank you for your time and effort and good luck with what comes next!

Hmm, my avatar image timestamp tells me that I started reading (or at least commenting) a bit over 10 years ago… Still feels like forever 🙂

Been a great 20 years, was hoping to see Shauna and Belinda rescue Bob in the future (is that really why Belinda was in the vault all that time?) loose ends are fine but this was a big one for me and deserved closure, so sadly the ending doesn’t work for me BUT I’m not making this, “Dr Legostar” is and he has the right to do it his way, I frankly wouldn’t have lasted a month if i was to try this, I’ve no idea how he found the time.

The placeholder to not spoil the end is a great idea though – shame though we couldn’t have at least had a two part epilogue so the story ended tomorrow and shove up the placeholder on the Saturday!

Sorry that does all sound a bit whiney, honestly loved this strip, really going to miss it.

  5. Björn says:

I have just to say: Thank You.

  6. Blood Red Rook says:

It’s been a hell of a ride! Very well done. Glad I got back in time to catch up on the final stretch.

  7. dani, the geek says:

If your road is lonely, even ’til the end,
A song that’s well-kept in your heart will be a steady friend.
And if your way is paved with love, raise your voice in song,
And share it with a traveller whose road is hard and long.

    – Tanglefoot, Song for the Road

aka: so long, and thanks for all the fish!

I don’t remember how long I’ve been reading, only that I found this comic when I was in highschool. I graduated in 2007. Legostar Galactica has been a blast the whole way through.
Thanks for all the good times, and good luck to you.

  9. Skorpeon_ says:

I may have only been a part of the comic for the last seven or so years, a friend told me about this “weird” collection of Lego comics, and that I should check them out.
Then a couple hundred strips in, there are the crossover episodes between DMM and LSG. Curiosity peaked, more Lego webcomics to binge and read…

LGS and DMM got me through quite a few rough patches. Especially Legostar because it was a crossover collection of a lot of comfort hobbies.

Thank you for the stories. And the laughs.

  10. Dan James says:

Long Time reader but rarely commented. Just to say thanks for an entertaining 18 years. It’s been an enjoyable ride.

  11. Caradoc Sawyer-James says:

Thanks for the hard work and endeavors in keeping this webcomic going. I’ve been reading since I was a mid teen (a long time ago). It’s been a good , fun ride.

  12. Joe M says:

Thank you for 20 years of an awesome webcomic!
I wish the best for you in all of your future endeavors!

  13. Rodrigo Barros says:

It’s a pity I only found this comic about a year or so prior to The End. But it was a great ride, reading everything like a TPB.
    Thanks for this. 🙂

  14. MSM007 says:

Ha, I love the name of the XO.

  15. wolf72 says:

    Good Luck!

Wait, there’s a main page? I just have the comic bookmarked, lol.

  16. BounderTree says:

Wow, 20 years of making a comic is a hell of an accomplishment!
I can’t say I was here from the beginning but your comic has been a part of my life for at least 13 years now.
So thank you so much for that.

  17. william scott says:

well not the strongest ending to a webcomic but not too bad either. going to miss this one long term.

  18. PsihoKekec says:

Thank you for all the comics, good luck with what you plan in future.

  19. Gildren says:

This has also been one of my favorite comic stops for the last few years. I wish it hadn’t ended so abruptly. But I understand that things must go on. Thanks for your time and hard work. I enjoyed it.

  20. The One Guy says:

Ant so it ends. I discovered webcomics through Reasonably Clever and for a time LEGO webcomics were the only ones I read. This was the last of those still updating and seeing it end gives me an almost nostalgic feel for that time. Thank you for all the entertainment you’ve provided me over the years, and ultimately, thank you for your part in introducing me to webcomics as a whole.

  21. Oldfan says:

Hard to believe this strip has finally come to its conclusion. I’m having a hard time processing just how long I’ve been following your comic and laughing out loud nearly every day. Thanks so much for the entertainment and a big thanks to whatever inspired you to bring our favorite toy to life for our amusement.

All the best to you and yours, and whenever you feel like sharing more adventures we’ll be here waiting!

  22. Pyradonis says:

Dr. Legostar, thank you for years and years of entertainment and inspiration! Many years ago, it was your comic that made me interested in my own Lego collection again which had until then been collecting dust in the basement. For so many years, it had become part of my weekly routine to read LG and dream of building sets as beautiful as yours. For the last three years I’ve been thinking more and more about trying to make brick comic myself. If it becomes reality one day, yours will be the first among my inspirations, and I will send people to check it out. Thanks again, and I wish you success for any future endeavors you have!
